Hi everybody,
This article is a summary of my life here, how I feel, what I miss me or not...
Today, I've got a nice surprise came by my Coach, Leo Mayo. He just asked me to come by the office, usually it is not good to receive this kind of text message but anyway I had nothing to blame me. I went there and he told me: "Someone from the NE10 Conference was reading your blog and your articles and he sent me an email" To sum up, the NE10 is gonna do a new topic on student-athletes and I will probably write something for them representing AIC, explaining my life here, my studies... I am so grateful and I am looking forward to start it. Again, I realize why I am here and how I am spending my days, I am so thankful to be here and I can just thank my coach for recruiting me. Even if I've got injured for the Cross-Country season missing Conference, Regionals and Nationals races, I am extremely hungry for indoor season and I will represent AIC the best I could, I swear.
So, this week was the last one before going back to France for Christmas, I was sitting with a part of my teammates during a dinner earlier in the week and I just realized that those guys will miss me a lot during 3 weeks. Also, I realized what kind of links we have made since the beginning of the year, those guys are became my family, I will do anything for them but firstly I will protect them. I know it is just the beginning but since August 2019 I am living my best life here in Springfield with my team.
After 4 months here, I am not gonna lie, but I created such a strong links with nearly all my teammates, we basically spent all our days together, eating breakfast, lunch and dinner, doing training, having fun, we are spending all our days TOGETHER and I think these elements are extremely important for sharing a team spirit. When we have won the NE10 Conference title earlier in the season, you cannot imagine what feeling it was, obviously we were stressed before the race, but we were certain of our strengths. Finally, we won easily, and every single guy was happy, I am remember this picture below, on our way back in the bus, it was amazing.
To illustrate this last article of 2019, I will share with you my top 4 memories.
Number 1: NE10 Champion
Obviously, the NE10 Title!!!! That moment was the most emotional of my athletic career, just crazy! AIC hadn't won since 2016, so we had to change it. I think this moment was the element where we made and where we started a strong team spirit, cheering together and enjoying the title.
Number 2: Thanksgiving Break
Thanksgiving break spending at Washington. This city is just beautiful; we spent almost one week there at Tony's house with 2 others teammates. It was not a holiday's week but training and visits, I could see the US Capitol, The Washington Monument, the White House, the Lincoln Memorial...I strongly recommend this city.
Number 3: Domestic Life
It's part of my memories because I am spending many times with them. I am living with MacGregor, my roommate and we are sharing the flat with Tobias who is from California, I used to talk a lot with Tobias in the lounge, talking about American's life, culture, politics...very interesting! To sum up, Tobias is very very kind person, and on Thursday, he offered us a Christmas present!!! He's amazing!
Number 4: My teammates
When I arrived in August, I've noticed that those guys were nice, they welcomed me so nicely but I have not expected this kind of relationship we have achieved. Those guys will miss me during the break! And I am already looking forward to see you on January my cats.
To conclude:
I just shared with you my top 4 memories even if I could share more than I did, I have a lot of memories in my head and I think it is the most important. I've met such a nice persons here at AIC and it was only my first 4 months there.
I will be racing on Saturday for my first mile ever in my career, I am so excited. We gonna stay in Boston after the race with Kate, Benoit and MacGregor in a hostel for the night waiting for our flights on Sunday.
Looking forward to see my French teammates, my coaches, my family and my friends.
I hope you enjoyed my articles since the beginning and I will continue to do it in January 4th when I will come back in America. I wish you Merry Christmas and Happy new year in advance and we will see you next year! See you:)
